It’s no secret that we all rewatch the same X amount of shows as a source of comfort. I’m sure most of us have the same exact comfort that we turn on and just casually watch, but this habit can hinder our personal growth and mental well-being. In this article, we’ll explore why people tend to rewatch the same shows and why it’s essential to break the cycle and find new sources of entertainment.

Why Do You Rewatch Shows?

Rewatching the same show over and over can be a result of several factors. When you’ve already watched a show, you know what to expect, and you don’t need to invest mental energy into following the storyline. It’s a familiar and effortless way to pass the time, because let’s be honest, who hasn’t put on The Office just to kill some time every now and then?

Rewatching the same shows can also provide a comforting experience that can provide a sense of security. This may especially ring true for some people in times of stress or anxiety. Perhaps watching the Gang from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a form of self-care that brings you comfort knowing that your life can’t be as bad as theirs.
